Goods price decline Switzerland

Good news for the locals, but also for the tourists, visiting beautiful Switzerland: the consumer goods in Switzerland are cheaper than last year!

Goods price decline Switzerland, It’s true! Believe it or not, even in the one of the most expensive countries in the world, sometimes the prices can bring us nice surprises.

After the economic shock caused by the strong franc earlier this year, the recent statistics on consumer product price bring us good news.

WHAT STATISTICS SAY ABOUT THE CONSUMER PRICES DECREASE

Apparently the consumer prices in Switzerland recorded in August a decrease of 1,4 % compared to the same period last year, representing the largest decrease of the last 56 years.

Compared with July, consumer prices fell by 0.2%, according to data released by the Federal Statistical Office.

Overall, consumer prices in Switzerland are at the lowest level from September 2007.

Statistic data related to August marked the tenth consecutive month of prices decrease, in annual terms, being a trend that began end of last year, but has grown since January, when the central bank removed the cap on its currency and the sudden appreciation of the franc 1.2 units for one euro took place.

The strong franc reduced the cost of imports from the Euro zone and according to statistics, in August, the total cost of imports fell by 5.5% compared to the same period last year. Another influential factor for maintaining the price low is the registered reduction of the oil price.

CONCLUSION FOR VISITORS OF SWITZERLAND

Even if we cannot speak about a cheap Switzerland, we definitely can say that the Swiss quality brings us surprises and comes sometimes at a lower price!
