Overall, consumer prices in Switzerland are at the lowest level from September 2007.

Statistic data related to August marked the tenth consecutive month of prices decrease. In annual terms, being a trend that began end of last year, but has grown since January. Afterwards, the central bank removed the cap on its currency. And then the sudden appreciation of the franc 1.2 units for one euro took place.

The strong franc reduced the cost of imports from the Euro zone. According to statistics, in August, the total cost of imports fell by 5.5% compared to the same period last year. Another influential factor for maintaining the price low is the registered reduction of the oil price.
